This is very well acted and maintains the viewers' attention without resorting to sensationalism and hype. What initially seems to be a killing of a prostitute turns into a more complicated case involving the very elite of Egypt.

But, one can’t help but feel that he has simply resigned himself to the ways of this world, taking and receiving bribes as recourse. It was kind of a whodunnit/thriller but didn't score high in this respect. The entire film was magnificent and not overdone. I've read a lot of noir novels and watched a lot of noir films and this movie stands up to the best of them. We do not charge or put articles behind a paywall.

I thought it was a good reflection of the situation in the security sector that spurred the Arab Spring in Egypt. This is an excellent film, well acted and highly realistic in its portrayal of the life of ordinary people and social conditions that gave rise to mass protests across much of North Africa and the Middle East known as the Arab Spring. Based on a a true story, this political crime thriller plays "like an Arabic riff on Chinatown or L.A.
